The Detroit Pistons don't know if they are rebuilding or trying to fight to be in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons have young talent like Greg Monroe,  Austin Day, Rodney Stuckey; on the other hand they also have veterans like Tyshuan Prince, Ben Wallace, and Richard Hamilton. They have enough talent to compete in the east, but will never make it out of the first round. The Pistons need to rebuild this season and use Richard Hamilton, Tyshuan Prince, Tracy McGrady, and Ben Wallace as trade bait. It's time to give Stuckey the ball and let the younger players get experience. It's better to rebuild over the next couple of seasons, then better for an 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.

  • Back Court:
Rodney Stuckey needs to make the leap this season and become an elite point guard. The Pistons changed there whole team around for Stuckey and he hasn't been consistent yet. Richard Hamilton needs to be traded, he doesn't belong on a rebuilding team. Hamilton is a shooter and the Pistons have been trying to make him a playmaker. Ben Gordon will come off the bench and had a terrible season last year with injuries and inconsistent play. Gordon needs the ball in his hand and take a lot of shots to be good. Will Bynum will see back up point guard minutes has been solid the last couple of season.

  • Front Court:
Ben Wallace is still playing defense and rebound the ball at his advance age. Wallace was looking bad on the Bulls, but since coming home as been one of the best players on the Pistons. Wallace will play hard every night, but is undersized and has no help in the middle. jason Maxiell is never consistent, but has shown flashes. If Maxiell can be consistent the Pistons can make the 8th seed. Greg Monroe should see a lot of minutes and is a solid passer out of the post. Monroe will see a lot of minutes if he plays good defense, rebounds, and scores inside. Austin Daye is a great athlete and will see minutes and needs to be consistent this season. Tyshaun Prince just doesn't seem to care anymore and wants to leave. Look for him to be traded by the deadline. McGrady is only auditioning for other teams and collects money don't look for him to have a great season. Charlie Villanueva got his money and won't have a good year, until it's time to collect again.

Detroit has too much of the same talent and are too small to compete for the playoffs this season. Joe Dumars has enough to talent and veterans to make some solid trades for young players and draft picks. I look for the Pistons to make trades, but they are stuck with Ben gordon and Charlie Villanueva for a couple more years.
